David worked for 15 years as a mechanic in mining attaining the equivalent of HNC in mechanical engineering. He obtained an HNC in electronics between jobs which lead to a work opportunity maintaining PLC machines for a short while. Realising he wanted to work in the care profession he gained acceptance onto an access to social care and nursing course at college just as a post became available on the Medical Physics and physiological measurements training course for the Trent region of the NHS. He applied for this and was successful.
Dave then embarked on the two year training course in Rehabilitation medicine for technicians which encompassed an HNC in computer studies. David was accepted into the EC side of the expanding service at Lincoln which was the first NHS trust in the UK to take the EC service in house.David has continued to work in Lincoln eats (22 years) and he’s currently the oldest member of staff both in age and longevity of service.
I have been a clinical technologist for over 20 years and I have been on the Clinical technologist register since it’s inception in August 2000 and I am enjoying being part of a dynamic, effective and responsive multi discipline team delivering a high quality AT service for the whole of the east midlands.
